Welcome Message

Good day to you all.

As you are all well aware of with the global pandemic of the new Covid-19 virus, many meetings and conferences have all been either postponed or changed to a new platform i.e. virtual meetings. In the same vein, the annual Malaysian Urological Conference that was to be held in beautiful Sabah this year has now been postponed to 2021.

Yet, that leaves us with a gap for 2020. To fill this void, we have decided to embark on something different. A generalised approach on one hand to cater for the needs of everyone including doctors, nurses and paramedics. And a more targeted approach targeting the Urologists but in small safe numbers. That led us to come up with a Hybrid meeting where we have one full day of virtual webinars co-supported by our pharmaceutical and industry partners followed by a smaller one day physical meeting in Aloft Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The virtual meeting is open to everyone who registers and allows you to access the portal any number of times once the event is over, thus allowing you to view the lectures even if you have missed them live. This access is available 24 hours, 7 days a week for the next 1 year.

The physical meeting is meant for our Urologists and trainees as travel from outside is restricted all over the world. For those whom are keen to see the physical meeting but are unable to do so due to travel restrictions, there will be a live streaming of the event including the symposium and plenary talks via the website for registered participants only. These sessions will also be recorded and stored for your viewing convenience on the congress website at any time over the next 1 year.

With that, we announce this year’s Special Edition Hybrid Mini-MUC 2020, a modified meeting platform that allows us to mix a virtual vista with a more hands-on physical meet to allow a safe way to meet up and strengthen our bonds whilst sharing knowledge in new ways and new norms. As Covid-19 still persists for the near future, we have to embrace this change positively and lean towards artificial intelligence and big data for exchange of knowledge, sharing of experience and dissemination of information. Even sponsors have now been enlightened and realised that there are many virtual ways to market their products and services.

So, I invite you all to join us on a smaller scale, a meeting with breakthrough ideas, presented in a new way. Join us virtually and physically for all those in Malaysia. For those from overseas, your physical presence here would have added more glow and as Malaysians we would have loved to shower you all with the warmth and hospitality that Malaysians are synonymous for. However, in view of all these troubling times, we invite you instead to join us on a whirlwind virtual platform and hope that you gain something from the webinars and talks that are shared online. The registration fees have been markedly reduced and nurses are given free access to their half day online platform.

I hope to see as many of you as possible either online or physically whenever possible. We hope that by November 2021, there will a be some resemblance of normal and then we would be able to invite you to the coasts of beautiful Sabah in the lovely Borneo island.

Cheers and stay safe.

Regards,
Dr. Vijayan Manogran
